Playing safely with LuckyWave
We want every session with us to remain a pastime you pay for, not a way to make money or escape a hard week. Below you will find the signs that play is slipping, what you can do with us and on your own, the free UK helplines that answer day and night, and ways to keep children away from gambling.
Signs that play is getting out of hand
Look back over your last few weeks of play and check for these patterns:
- You spend more money or more time than you planned, more often than not.
- A loss sends you straight back to the cashier to chase it.
- You gamble to cope with stress, boredom, loneliness or low mood.
- Play becomes something you hide from your partner, family or friends.
- You borrow money, skip bills or dip into savings to keep playing.
- Your sleep, your job or the people close to you pay the price.
One sign is enough to pause and think. Several together mean it is time to talk to someone.

Limits you can set for yourself
Money
Decide before you log in how much you can afford to lose, and treat it as spent. Once that sum is used up, log off. Never top up with money meant for rent, bills, food or family.
Time
Set an alarm on your phone before you start and stop when it rings. Take regular breaks away from the screen, and avoid playing late at night when you are tired.
Mood
Leave the games alone when you are angry, low, stressed or have been drinking. Gambling is a poor way to change how you feel.
Taking a break with self-exclusion
How to ask for it
Self-exclusion typically goes through our customer service. Open our live chat or write to our support by e-mail and tell us that you want to self-exclude.
What helps alongside it
A break works best with a plan around it. Unsubscribe from our promotional messages, remove saved payment details from your browser and tell someone you trust about your decision. Calling a helpline in the same week gives you support that does not depend on willpower alone.

Protecting your account
Your login
Use a long password that you use for nothing else and never share it. If you think someone else knows it, change it at once and tell our live chat.
Your devices
Lock your phone and computer with a code, and log out after each session on any device that other people use. SSL encryption typically protects the connection to our pages, yet a shared password undoes that protection.
Your payments
Use only your own payment methods and check your bank account regularly so that you spot any payment you did not make.
Keeping under-18s away from gambling
The age rule
In England and Wales, full age is 18. Our 18+ notice usually marks accounts with us as adults-only, and we ask anyone younger to stay away from real-money games.
Children at home
If children share your home or your devices, do not save your login in the browser and never leave a device unlocked while you are logged in. Give children their own user profiles, and switch on the parental controls of your phone, tablet, computer or home broadband to keep gambling content away from them. Talk to older children about gambling openly, so they know that games of chance are not a way to earn money.
